Hello and welcome to my blog!
This is where it begins, my journey towards the parliamentary elections in April and my first candidacy. In my first blog post, I want to reflect a bit on my decision to run and what my expectations are for the coming months.
Today, 8.12.2022, there are 115 days until the parliamentary elections. My decision to run was ultimately quite simple: I want to make an impact.
The last four years I have been devoted to students, active both in the Student union, my Student nation and now in the National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK, where I have the honour to represent all Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences students at EU and European level. The world is evolving day by day and we have to keep up with these developments. It's time for us to move into the future.
I believe that this country is much better off having decision-makers of different ages, backgrounds and education to truly represent Finland and the Finnish people. We need to look past our political stereotypes and focus on what is relevant: what do we want the country to look like in 4, 8 or 12 years?
For me personally, the most important issue in this particular election is students and Finland's higher education. Perhaps because I am still a student at the moment, but also because over the past year I have been able to travel around Europe and meet student representatives from very different backgrounds and situations to myself. But still, despite our differences, we come together as students and we all have the same goal: to improve students' lives.
Finland has a very good foundation to have the best higher education in the world, but in order to reach that goal we need more resources to develop.
We already have a functioning dual model, both at second and third level, but we need to ensure that these models are equal to each other, that students have the opportunity to continue their studies regardless of their first education.
By investing in education, offering sufficient positions and providing education in several languages, we can increase the workforce and the number of experts in Finland.
But this is just a start, one of the reasons I chose to stand. During my campaign, I look forward to meeting my opponents, engaging in a lot of interesting discussions and having an opportunity to influence and be a part of the future of this country.
Welcome to join my campaign and my journey towards the parliamentary elections!
